Daily update is a feature that allows users to receive Assistant notifications each day that show the latest version of your Action. Depending on the Action, this can be useful for providing important information, or to remind users to use your Action regularly.
For example, a travel agent might offer to send daily updates of all bookings made for hotel rooms. This helps travellers to stay on top of their bookings, especially in case the hotel has a cancellation policy. In addition, it reduces the burden on the agent by allowing them to concentrate on other things such as selling and customer service.
In order to test daily updates, you need an Android or iOS device running the Google Assistant app and logged in with your Google account. To invoke the Action, you need to activate your device’s daily update notification by tapping on its Assistant icon. Once your daily update is active, you can then try invoking the Action and subscribing to its daily updates.
To configure daily updates for your Action, go to the Actions console and click Develop in the top menu. Select Intents in the left menu and create a new intent with the action “Subscribe to daily updates”.
To add daily update as a system scene, click on Scenes in the left menu and select the system scene that you want to edit. For details on how to do this, see the Daily updates system scene article. You can also personalize the daily update by adding custom parameters to your update intent when you register it. This lets you provide personalized content to each user who registers the intent.
